Jon Sivell

Since 2001 Jon Sivell has been a New York City based consultant providing theatre planning and design consulting for a wide variety of performing arts and entertainment projects; offering expertise on small and large theatres, opera houses, orchestra halls, convention centers, auditoriums, amphitheatres, broadcast studios, and entertainment spaces.

Jon brings a unique understanding of the theatre building and its operations from his experience in both theatre production and performing arts administration. His familiarity with the artistic, technical and operational requirements of theatre facilities informs his work on all aspects of theatre planning and design as well as performing arts project feasibility studies, business planning and strategic planning for the arts.

Significant projects include The Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center in New York City; Roundabout Theatre Company's Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Broadway; the Smith Center, a multi-venue performing arts center at the heart of an urban redevelopment district in Las Vegas; Bing Concert Hall and Frost Amphitheater on the campus of Stanford University; new systems and infrastructural improvements to the historic Ford's Theatre in Washington DC; lighting design of the "Mostly Mozart" Festival at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall; lighting systems for two roadhouse venues at the Marina Bay Sands Resort & Casino in Singapore; the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, used for live concert performance and broadcast events; design of a multi-venue facility for the preservation, development and promotion of Xiqu (Chinese Opera) in West Kowloon, Hong Kong; and improved performance facilities for the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Jon received his M.A. in Performing Arts Administration from New York University, and his B.A. in Theatre Design and Technology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
